What types of Cookies does GMO Research use?

1.2.1 Google Analytics
On our websites we use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses Cookies. The information generated by the Cookies about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.
Google uses this information on our behalf to evaluate the use of our online offer, to compile reports on the activities within this online offer and to provide us with further services connected with the use of this online offer. Pseudonymous user profiles can be created from the processed data.
We use Google Analytics only with the enabled IP anonymization configuration (“gat._anonymizeIp();”) to ensure an anonymized collection of IP addresses (so called IP-masking). This means that your IP address will be anonymized by Google within member states of the United Kingdom, the European Union or in other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. The IP address transmitted by your browser is not merged with other Google data.

1.3 Cookies used for Marketing
This type of Cookie is often set by third-parties and is used to collect information about what other websites you visit (webtracking) so that individualized and targeted advertising can be displayed.
For these purposes, there is a legitimate interest as a legal ground according to Article 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR for processing your data because we can individualize our advertisement to your interests. However, we also ask you to consent to the use of these third party Cookies in our Cookie Policy. The legal ground is therefore also based on Article 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR.
We want to inform you about our use of the following services from third party providers for marketing and advertising purposes.
1.3.1 Google AdWords
On our websites we use Google AdWords. Google AdWords is an online advertising program by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). We use on the one hand the re-marketing function within the Google Adwords service. With the re-marketing function, we can present adverts based on their interests to website users on other websites in the Google display network (Google itself, so-called “Google ads”, or on other websites). For this, the user’s interaction on our website is analyzed, e.g. the offers the user is interested in, to be able to show target adverts on other pages after visiting our website. To do so, Google saves a number in the user's browser when they visit certain Google services or websites in the Google display network. This user's visits are recorded via this number, which is referred to as a “Cookie”. This number is used to uniquely identify a web browser on a particular computer and not to identify a person; personal data is not stored. We also use so-called conversion tracking as part of the Google AdWords service. When you click on an advert placed by Google, a Cookie is stored for conversion tracking on your computer/device. These Cookies become invalid after 30 days, do not contain personal information and are not used for personal identification. The information obtained using the conversion Cookie is used to produce conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have chosen conversion tracking.

1.3.2 HubSpot
We use HubSpot services on our website to optimize our marketing activities, as well as examine the use of this website by its visitors (number of users, session duration, page visits). HubSpot is a CRM platform offering marketing and customer service tools. The data collected helps us analyze visitors’ interaction with the website and improve its overall performance and our services accordingly. Some of the cookies set by HubSpot are necessary or functional (e.g. _messageUtk), whereas some serve analytical and marketing purposes (e.g. _hssc, _hssrc,_hstc,_hubspotutk) and are set, therefore, upon your consent. 1.3.3 LinkedIn
We use LinkedIn marketing solutions to help promote our business and better understand our audience. This includes using the LinkedIn Insight Tag to collect data relating to members’ visits to our website, including the URL, referrer, IP address, device and browser characteristics, timestamp, and page views. This data is encrypted, then de-identified within seven days, and the de-identified data is deleted within 90 days. Your personally identifiable data is not shared with us, only aggregated reports about our audience and ad performance. To enable these insights, “Marketing Cookie” listed at the bottom of this document, may be set in your browser.
